When love falls on the deaf side of ears
(Paul de Poet)
When love falls on the deaf side of ears
Beauty becomes beast
And roses becomes Savanna bush
Laughter fades into tears;
Whilst smiles twinkles into wrinkles
When love falls on the deaf side of ears
Sweet becomes bitter
And applause becomes blows
The lover of yesteryears becomes the enemy of today;
Whilst your number 1 Mona Lisa becomes your greatest teaser
When Love falls on the deaf side of ears
Patience give way for temper
And kind words give way for hurtful words
You now treat your African beads as your slave door mat
Whilst she being your Kente now becomes your retched clothe
Why love?
Why?
Why throw away all the beautiful memories?
The singing songs
The dancing tunes
And the watching moons
Why have she now become the round pegs that can't fit in a square hole?
The late horror movie that scares children to sleep
And the sounding brass that noise in your ears
When love falls on the deaf side of ears
Her near presence sterns you
And she becomes vague in your sight
But foolish will you know that you are, when you finally realize that you have lost a real jewel
But it will be too late.
